Efren Reveles, known to his friends as "Doc", is a retired physician who has lived in Kerrville, Texas since 1990.  Before his retirement he kept his fingers agile by doing artwork in his spare time; and now it has become a fulltime labor of love.  All of Doc's work is original and is done freehand; this is why collectors of his work are often amused to find minor irregularities in his work. Indeed, his decorator plates are rapidly becoming collectors' items. Trim on plates and other items is always done in 24-carat gold.  Although many pieces have a Jewish motif, much of his art is found in the homes of non-Jews, perhaps as a reminder of Christianity's Jewish roots.  Whether you choose a piece for your own home or as a gift for a Jewish friend, Doc's Jewish ceramic art will continue to be a joy to admire for years to come.
